1. What EZstate is, and is not
EZstate is an educational software tool that helps people understand the practical and administrative steps that commonly follow a death. It generates general checklists and explanations, including content produced by artificial intelligence.
EZstate is not a law firm, legal document preparation service, accounting firm, tax preparer, registered investment advisor, insurance producer, funeral provider, or healthcare or mental-health provider. Nothing in the product is legal, tax, financial, insurance, medical, or psychological advice, and no attorney-client, accountant-client, or fiduciary relationship is created by using it. See our full legal disclaimer.
2. Who may use EZstate
EZstate is distributed through organizations, employers, HR and benefits teams, hospices, faith communities, and grief-support nonprofits. Organizations enroll and receive an access code. Individuals use that code to create their own private account. You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States to create an account.
Access granted through an organization lasts only as long as that organization's agreement with EZstate. If an organization's access ends, individual accounts may lose access after notice.
3. Pilot program
EZstate is currently offered free of charge to a limited group of pilot partners. Pilot access is provided "as is," may change or end at any time, and does not guarantee future pricing, availability, or feature set. Paid plans, if introduced, will be described separately and will require a new agreement.
4. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate information and keep your access code and login private.
- Verify anything consequential with a licensed professional in the relevant state or country before acting on it.
- Do not use EZstate to commit fraud, to act on behalf of an estate without legal authority, or to obtain or misuse another person's information.
- Do not upload content you have no right to share, or attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, resell, or overload the service.
5. AI-generated content
"Ask your EZstate Guide" uses large language models. Model output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated, and may not reflect recent changes in law or the specific rules of your county, state, or another country. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying AI output before relying on it. Do not submit information you would not be comfortable sharing with a third-party AI provider.
6. Third-party resources
EZstate may list attorneys, counselors, agencies, and other organizations for convenience. Listings are not endorsements, referrals, recommendations, or certifications of quality, licensure, or fitness. We are not responsible for third-party services, websites, fees, or outcomes. Verify credentials independently.
7. Intellectual property
EZstate and its content, design, and software are owned by EZstate and licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use while your access is active. Content you enter remains yours; you grant us a limited license to process it in order to operate the service.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, complete, or current, or that following any step will produce a particular legal or financial result.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, EZstate and its officers, employees, and partners will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, missed deadlines, penalties, or lost data, arising out of your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of the amount you or your organization paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold EZstate harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of the rights of another person or estate.
11. Changes, suspension, and termination
We may update these terms, and we will post the new effective date here. Continued use after an update means you accept it. We may suspend or terminate access for misuse or to comply with law. You may stop using EZstate at any time and clear your locally stored progress from within the app.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Nothing here limits your right to bring a claim in small claims court or to report conduct to a regulator.
